DataListerSM Software Manual

Criteria Fields

The DataListerSM software provides you with the flexibility you need to search the employer records productively. You may use any combination of fields to create a query. The software will return all matching records of your request.

Employer Name

The employer Name field is used to lookup one particular employer based upon their name. The asterisk (*) wildcard is particularly helpful when using this field. I recommend that you use only part of a name when entering criteria into this field. For example, if you would like to lookup "Schofield Management Inc" you would enter "*Schof*". This will look for all records that have "Schof" somewhere in the name. This will increase the likelyhood that you will find a match. Also, do not use any other fields except for possibly a locale field like county or city. If the information entered on the employer you are looking for does not exactly match the criteria you enter, it will not be found! If the button to the right of the field is depressed, a start-of-field search is designated. A start-of-field search is the same as entering criteria with an asterisk wildcard following (i.e., "Schof*").

Address

Are you interested in obtaining information on those located on your street? With this field you can lookup all records located at any particular address. For example, suppose you are looking at all employers located on South Florida Avenue. You can enter "*Florida*" and retrieve those records.

The address field can be tricky because of the abbreviations involved in addresses. Avoid using address prefixes and suffixes altogether. Instead, use the asterisk (*) wildcard in their place. You may also want to use a locale field like county or city in conjunction with the address field.

City, State, Zip, and County

These four fields are useful as locale fields. Enter criteria into any one of these fields in order to limit the results to a particular area. Keep in mind that redundancy is not necessary. For example, if you use zip code(s), there is no need to select city, county, or state. The search will only include the particular zip code(s).

Zip Plus 4 Only

As part of the service that DataLister provides you, we postal correct and add the Zip Plus Four extension to the database records. Checking this field is very valuable for the purpose of direct mailing. When checked, only verifiable addresses with the Zip Plus Four extension will be selected.

SIC Code

Standard Industrial Classification classifies categories of businesses. You can use this field to narrow a search to find employers in a particular industry.

Class Code (Where Available)

Use this field to lookup all employers classified by a particular workers compensation class code. This may be valuable as an estimation of premium size

Carrier

You can use the carrier field to look-up all employers insured by a particular workers compensation carrier. The carrier field requires you to lookup the carrier code. The database of carriers and their corresponding codes can be accessed by clicking on the "CARRIER" button located on the toolbar. The build button is also available to select one or more carriers without having to look-up the code.

Effective Month

The effective month could very well be the most valuable marketing criteria available because most policies are renewed one year from the effective date. This field is useful in locating all accounts which became effective in a particular month. It is formatted as numbers 01-12 denoting January-December. This field will obtain all years for each month, no particular year can be narrowed down with this field. Ranges are possible (i.e., 01-04 will find January and April renewals). 12;01 will find December and January renewals.

Employee Size (Where Available)

Use a range in this field to limit the results to employers with a specified number of employees. In Florida, when this information is available it is only to employers with greater than ten employees.
